It depends on what you want them for and your income. If you are some ignoramus who thinks he can improve his prospects towards being an animator just maybe you would buy them I wouldn't

No more so than buying a poster of a singer, actor/actress, etc is a waste of time or money.

Not really. Some people, like my uncle, like to look at their favorite actor/actress everyday because they either love them or their character. In my uncle's case, he like's Deadwood, so he bought a Deadwood poster.
