And he knew he had to work at regaining your trust and apparently you were not going to just hand it to him so the shallow goof took the easy root and gave up.
Good rid-dins! People make mistakes and if he was truly sorry he would be doing whatever he had to to make up for it if he really cared about you. Instead he took the easy way out and gave up.
Count your blessings Sister, it is only a sign of what could of come. Life gets difficult and marriage holds lots of challenge-es and this obviously emotionally immature nimrod would of just let you down sooner or later. You are better off.

Please if you think you have low self esteem and may be willing to compromise yourself by putting up with jerks go find a local chapter of any "when love hurts faction" and learn about loving the RIGHT guy or you just may end up in another abusive relationship with another jerk. Learned to love yourself first and you will demand nothing less from your partner. You are a beautiful person inside and out. If this statement leaves doubts in your mind thn honey heal those wounds. A better life is for you to have and YOU deserve it!

He cheated for a reason...unfortunately for you he not only wanted someone else but he didn't really care for you. At least he gave you the respect of not continuing to cheat on you again and again.
