Alright, so I have discovered this so-called "Top Contributor" tag that so many people appear to have. It is described as someone who is "particularly knowledgable" in a certain category. Don't you love how people can always fake their way into things like this, and it's always the people who are really good at things that spend life in a miserable unacknowledged existence? Not to offend you Top Contributors (I am sure a good deal of you know what you are talking about and have earned that rank with hours of hard work, but others have just earned it for nothing.), but in general, the people who earn credit are usually the ones who pretend to know how to do things, not the ones who put the best effort and most logical proof into things. What are your opinions? Agree or disagree, and why?

Well, seeing as a few people don't understand what constitutes an answer here, I thought I might point out that "Bitter...party of 1." is not an answer, so if any more of you brilliant answerers would like to submit similar garbage, please refrain. Also, Stefan, I understand that this is a democracy, but what does that have to do with the question? I asked why you think they get more credit, not whether or not they are entitled to answer questions. I am not trying to "hate on people" here, I am trying to strike up a friendly question on worldly matters not necessarily pertaining to Yahoo! Answers. Ever heard of an analogy? And I'm not quite sure what "sensorship" is, but I am certainly not trying to blot out anybody's views. And finally, I do not understand what you are trying to prove by calling me a sheep, but then again, there are some people who think that petty insult will get them somewhere in life.

HI! What amuses me about the 'Top Contributor' label is that I'm listed as tops in Music and Television... so I guess that I have a high percentage of 'Best Answers' in those categories. Yes, I know a lot of songs and so can easily identify songs when someone gives a few lyrics. I don't watch much television, and most of my answers in there are about music that is used in commercials or shows. But that is rote memory and/or quick research that results in an accurate reply.

But in truth, I feel my BEST answers have been in Health and relationships (dating, parenting, family, friends, etc.) categories. In those categories, I write from my professional and educational backgrounds, as well as my life experiences. I put more thought and effort and heart into those responses.

So apparently it is simply a quantitative label, because the actual 'quality' of the answers does not always earn the selection as the "Best Answer" - which you have observed in another of your questions. And the "Best Answers" as determined by voting are often NOT the best, but simply the first, or the funniest, etc.

As an analogy to the 'real' world, I agree that the people who really care about living a quality life - whether it is by being genuine in their relationships or about always doing their best at school or work - are often under-appreciated. However, they do not look for recognition, because the "reward" comes from the peace-of-mind and clear conscience that allows them to sleep soundly every night.

But hypocrisy abounds, especially in western society where selfishness has become the norm. Everyone seems to think they are entitled to their "piece of the pie" without having contributed to its creation! I see it in the 20-somethings that come in for a receptionist job at my office and have snotty attitudes and whine about every little thing. I see it in the shoddy workmanship when contractors have to put in bids for jobs and their only concern is getting it done under budget with no regards to quality. Too few take pride in a job well done, they just go through the motions to make it to the next payday.

Bitter. . .party of 1.

"it's always the people who are really good at things that spend life in a miserable unacknowledged existence?"

It's pretty obvious that you are talking about yourself here (of course you won't admit it), and you're obviously bitter about not being recognized for some kind of "talent" you perceive yourself as having.

By the way, you don't get to dictate how people post. Folks can say whatever they want, and there is not a thing you can do about it short of deleting your lame 'question'. If you're that upset about the way things work, then leave. Otherwise, stop hating on achievers because you are "miserable" and "unacknowledged". If you want attention so badly, slit your wrists.

I would have to agree in a sense, usually if your a top contributor to a topic your answers sound the most convincing, or you spend so little time doing research you have enough time to just keep answering. Unfortunatly sounding convincing and answering a lot have nothing to do with knowledge in a particular subject.

It's what you might call democracy, or "We the People". Anyone at all can say WHAT-SO-EVER they are thinking. Top Contributor, obviously, only means they answered a lot of questions. Why don't you quit trying to hate on people just because you think they are stupid and move on. You seem to have a lot of respect for sensorship, sheep.

I agree just like when they featured the best asked questions which were questions that I thought were very lame.
