Need other's opinions- took a home pregnancy test and got a faint positive?

Question

I'm about a week late for my cycle. I took a hpt this morning- I didn't even think I got enough urine on it to do anything. I came back later to look at it and there was a faint positive reading on it. I'm going to the doctor next week. Opinions? What do you think? Pregnant or no?

Depends how long you read it. If you read it within the limit you should assume you are pregnant. If you did not read it within the 5-10 minute timeframe it is most likely to be a false positive. They are rare and only occur if the test was read wrong or had hpt containing fertility treatments. I would take another test and read it withing the 3 minute window. This will give you an more accurate answer. I would also get a blood test done.

As long as you took test correctly and looked at it within the required amount of time then yes your pregnant. if the line is faint it normally means your just very earlly on and dont have much HCG levels. Why dont you wait till after weekend and test again. Use the same brand (as some pick up earlier than others) Make sure you use 1st morning urine as HCG is at its strongest then. Its commen to have a false negitive but almost impossible to have a false positive. Good Luck

If I were you I would just take another test. 1st of all you said you don't think there was enough urine and then you said you came back later. How much later? Most tests say to not read the answer after 10 minutes. A positive is usually a positive but jsut take another to be sure.

Well if there is any line in the window means you are pregnant. However, if the test sit there for 10 or more minutes it could be inaccurate. The best bet would be for you to take another one and take it in the morning because it has the most concentrate of the hcg hormone. Then read it in 3 mins. However if you did go to the doctor and she is doing tests then the blood test is the most accurate and you can rely on that result. Good Luck!!

I took a test with the first baby and couldn't see the second line! I thought oh well as usual I am not pregnant. Then i thought well I'll look again and there it was a faint pink line. I went right to the clinic and got a pregnancy test and yes i was pregnant. So if you see two lines even a faint one your pregnant!

When I had my daughter, it stayed positive all day until I threw it away (after showing my husband, of course). It only takes a few drops of urine on the stick for you to know for sure. Honestly, I have never had the signs to change whether it be 5 minutes after I took the test or 2 days. Good Luck! Motherhood is Awesome if your ready for it!

How long did it sit? You're not supposed to read it after 10 minutes according to most of the packages, but I always went back to check again. There can be false negatives, but very rarely false positives. If you got a faint positive it's still a positive. I think you're pregnant, congrats!

Faint positives usually mean you are pregnant and there wasn't enough hormone to produce a bright positive line... If you are worried, buy another test to double check.

Hi, I had a faint test and it turned out positive. I'm not saying yours will be, but be prepared for a positive.

i would retest tomm morning just b.c you said it set out and when you came back it was a faint positive..but if it wasnt very long after you peed on the stick it is a probably a real positive..good luck and sounds like congrats..
