No, not sure where you heard that, but most Media types will agree that Internet radio will one day be THE BIG THING.

Terrestrial radio...the kind of radio you hear in your car etc. is dying...thanks to deregulation in 1996. That helped ruin radio.

One or two big comapnies who buy most of the stations in one city. Then they homogenize the sound...you can hear the same MIX type format in Cleveland that you can in Dallas. It's ridiculous and all the local flavor has been removed. So has all the "personality". There's no humor, no originality. Everybody who becomes a jock these days are reduced to reading liner cards. BORING!

AM radio is all but dead. In a few years it'll be where all ultra religious and ethnic stations go. And if FM survives at all, it'll deal with the same fate as AM when FM became the most listened to band on the radio. FM will become home for News and Talk formats...all sports, too.

Options have killed terrestrial radio...I-Pods, burnable CDs early Internet Radio stations, MP3's....downloads have all had a hand in radio's demise. But in my opinion, radio did it to itself. It's committing suicide. If these big mega corporations would let stations program themselves for the audience they spent years cultivating.... If creativity had been stressed and jocks be allowed to be themselves and insert personality and formats programmed with wider arrays of musis rather than the same repetitive crap, people might not have had the need to find alternatives.

Sorry radio...you're dying and no one that you've spit out and left for dead in recent years is going to care enough to come back to rescue you.
