Depends on what is you want. Begging really isn't good in any situation. It just makes you look like sniffling sissy crybaby. Asking is a totally different story though. Although begging for your life if someone was trying to kill you might be a good thing. lol
Some things you shouldn't be quiet and wait. Like if someone is walking all over you or if a job opening comes up, don't expect anyone to hand it to you if you wait. Someone that steps up and ASK for it is gonna be the one to get it.
So again, it depends on the situation.

It is better to be quiet and wait....but, if I was homeless and hungry...I may beg. I wouldn't be homeless/hungry unless something awful happened to me. It wouldn't be because I was a druggie/alcoholic. But, in my life now? I know to be quiet and wait.
