I have 3 kids ages 8,7, & 5. I have been to tripadvisor.com, which gave me some good info. Just wondered if anybody had the inside scoop. We are going the week before Easter. Thanks for your answer!

DO NOT stay at the Poindexter, Atlantica resorts.....but if you have been to trip advisor, you already know that.
I am staying at the Dayton House this year but I think next year I will rent a condo from www.elliottbeachrentals.com
I have in the past stayed at the Holiday Inn at the Pavilion. It is an independent and not part of the chain. But they have a great location, a great continental breakfast and nice rooms. I also have stayed farther north at the Sea Dip a few times but the rooms are getting a bit dated for what they ask and I only stay in the nice oceanfront tower condo when I stay there.
I don't recommend anything downtown and just south of downtown because of the neighborhood around it.

I live in Myrtle Beach. I have all my life. My advice is don't come here. At least not this year. The beach is not spectacular. In fact it is mostly cluttered with motels and trinket shops. It is also very dirty because the city does not spend the time or money to make it better. As far as entertainment goes, I am afraid that your children would probably be disappointed. Th ye have torn down the Pavilion, the water park in the area will not be open when you come, and the rest of the town is mostly filled with restaurants, golf courses, trinket shops, and theaters. Also, in downtown, just like every other beach town, Myrtle Beach is having an influx of homeless people that hang around the beach. It is not a pretty sight for families.

I would suggest holding off for a year or two and waiting for the Hard Rock Park they are building. Also, it may divert attention of some of the seedy crowd away from the beach and make it more enjoyable.

We've stayed in Myrtle Beach 6 years in a row..Carolina Winds and Carolina Dunes are the nicest and best for kids. On the beach with beautiful pools and not too close to the noise of Easter breakers...stay away from the low # streets where the teenagers all hang out.

Enjoy-I'm sooo jealous!

We always stay at the Crescent Shores condos. You can do a search on Grand Strand Resorts and they can give you info. They are great--beachfront, lazy river, pool, hot tubs... we love them. We are going this summer and I can't wait! Don't miss Medieval Times when you go.
