I don't have anything against drinking. Alchoholism doesn't run in my family, and some of my family members drink ocassionally. I don't have any reason why I don't drink, I just don't.
The other day I went to a bar with a friend (I usually don't go to bars, it was a spur of the moment thing). He met some of his pals there, we were introduced and the waitress came over and ask what we all wanted, some ordered beers, others shots, I didn't want anything so I told her to bring me some water....
Everyone looked at me like I was from another planet. Then the barrage of questions started: "why don't you drink?" "are you a vegan?" "are you one of those?" " are you gay?" "are you on the wagon (or off, however that goes)" just on and on.
NO. NO . NO. I just don't drink. Not for health reasons, Not because I'm a recovering alcoholic, or because I fear it. I just don't drink, jesus.
I felt like a teenager. It was like they were peer pressuring me to have a beer because "it wont kill".
