I like having long hair and my mother still has fairly long hair too. All of my female elderly clients have such short hair though and some of them make derogatory comments about those with long hair.

I think the time to have short hair is when you are too tired to maintain long locks. It is up to you. But, shorter hair is better when you get older, because your hair looks too thin long.

There is no age. I'm so glad attitudes have changed about long hair. I'm 51 and have long hair. The older generation has this concept that once you turn 30, your hair should be short. Ignore the derogatory comments and let's enjoy our long hair.

I remember thinking when I was younger (like when I was a child) that old women should have short hair (I have no idea why I thought this). Anyway, one day I happened to meet a lady who was about 70 years old and had the most beautiful silvery braid all the way down her back. It was really very pretty on her. So now, I feel that everyone should just wear their hair as it suits them. My mom is almost 60 and her hair is much longer than mine, and it looks great. It just depends on the person.

do not worry about the derogatory comments that some of these elderly clients may make. They are just jealous because they can no longer grow long hair.

My hair is my choice to wear it as I want to, nobody elses...

They make derogatory comments about your hair because they envy it.

If you like your hair long, then wash every day like I do and condition it as well. Don't brush it too much and tie it back when you are doing your chores.

Then, go out on Saturday night with it hanging down and GLOWING amongst those in the Club whose hair is WAYYY over processed. Accept your compliments graciously...

There is no age limit I guess but for some reason as you get older you actually look older with longer hair, so cutting it short just looks better on older people, most of the time.

Possibly some older women have short hair because it is easier to keep clean and to groom, and maybe makes them feel younger and more carefree. I think a womans hair is her crowning glory. My husband's grandmother will be 80 next month, and she has only ever had her hair trimmed-it reaches her knees!!

I plan to have long hair until the day I die. The Bible says "...if a woman has long hair it is her glory..." It does NOT say if a YOUNG woman has long hair, just a woman. Who cares what society thinks? I like having long hair and I plan to keep it.

You can have long hair but as you age it drags the face down making you look tired and older. So feather it on the sides and it looks alot better.

It really depends on the person.I would say,if you like it keep it. I would say 40 would be the age for me.I go through phases myself and have had both long and short hair.I have nice hair and it looks good either way.
