It is a Procomp electronic dizzy for a 253/308. There does not appear to be any marks inside the cap to line up and I do not have an old one with leads on it to compare the new one to.

Looks like your going to have to do it the hard way. Run number 1 piston up to top dead center, with the intake and exhaust valves closed. Look at the rotor on the distributor and see were it is pointing. If your timing calls for 6 degrees before top dead center, back the crank up so timing mark is lined up at 6 degrees. The rotor should now point to number 1. because it's in the firing posistion. Note the direction of rotation of the rotor. Plug wires should be placed in the order of firing order on the cap.

i own a shop,and remove no-1 spark plug bring it up to top dead center and then look in the cap,it should be marked on the out side of the cap rather than on the inside of it,and the button should be pointing at it when no-1 comes on compression stroke,good luck,i hope this helps.

# 1 up to tdc . - where the rotor points is one .
( UNLESS you moved the dist . )
then follow fireing order .
