have u tried vinegar and bi carb soda. i havent tried it but i heard it works a treat and is environmentally friendly.

Reasonably environmentally friendly options are supposedly Tang (the powdered orange drink) and Coke but I haven't personally tried either one. Pour into the bowl, leave overnight, scrub well with a stiff brush. If it's really gross, though, the porcelain may be permanently etched. Good luck.

It really depends on what caused the stain. Is it limestone, rust, or just dirty???? When I moved in a house with these stains in the toilet, I used LSR or something like that... it is 3 initials and you can buy it at the grocery store. It really smells and I left it a lot longer than it required on the label, but it really really worked!

sounds like water stains , i would try bleach , pour it in thru the top, and leave i t over nigth then a stiff brush , if this wont clean , you may need a acid from the lumber co;
