I am 13 and I really want to be a vet when I'm older, so I was thinking that maybe I can go do some volunteer work at a animal shelter... but because of laybor laws most places don't allow it! So I need somewhere I can work with animals (preferably dogs) with my age... know any places?

I'd check with your local animal shelters and animal rescue agencies. Those places always need volunteers. As someone else mentioned, you may need a parent or adult to go with you. Good luck.

Well I think some animal shelters will let you volunteer with your parents, if they're up for it. I know of an animal shelter that lets kids of many ages volunteer as long as their parents are present. Or you could try a veterinarians office.

Try your local veterinarian. I use to be a vet tech. We let kids come in and help us clean kennels, walk dogs, and feed the animals. This would probably be a place to start. Labor laws can usually be bent when it comes to volunteering. You aren't being paid for the work you do, so it's not really considered work. Good luck

Why not see if there are any people near you that show dogs? You can do all sort of work with them including grooming, training and going to shows on week ends. One way to find some people who are in you area is to go to a show, and look through the cataloger and see who is near you.You might meet someone near a ring that their breed is showing in. Working with shows and breeds will teach you a whole lot about dogs, the breeds and their care. Below is a sight which lists up coming shows that may be in your area.

Why don't you advertise or spread the word in your neighborhood to volunteer to walk dogs and care for pets...free for elderly and a fee for vacationing folks. Be very careful...there are some weirdos out there.

You can' t actually(I am 13 too)! You must be at least 16 years to do it, that goes with the RSPCA too!
