If the system had a Windows 2000 key it can be restored by extracting the key from the Windows Registry. There are free software programs that can help you find it: Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder, or Windows Key Finders. If you don't have one and the system never had one you can sometimes buy them on ebay.com or can contact Microsoft and buy a license.
