Acer Travelmate 2420 - and the display is set to normal aspect ratio - which leaves the sides of the monitor empty and blank. I want to be able to fully utilize the screen and not see black space on the side. Thank you!

Right Click on Desktop, Select Graphics Properties, then change the Screen Area to 1280 x 800.

Good Luck.

If your computer is widescreen and the picture doesn't fit try to change the resolution. Just right click, then go to properties click on the settings tab. Try changing the little bar until it fits. If it still doesn't fit it may be because f your widescreen.

On the desktop screen right click and go to properties and click the settings tab, experiment with higher aspect ratios until you get the right one.

Control Panel, Display, Settings tab - choose a resolution which fits your screen.

Unless there is something amiss, that should do it.

(If you're referring to setting up Movies on your laptop)

You'll either have to:

CROP your picture along WIDTH &/or HEIGHTH
or
DISTORT your picture by JUSTIFYING IT.

Either way, you're compromising your picture,.. With this in mind, do you think that you could become accustomed to the black bands on the screen?,.. maybe if you think of them as "frames",.. sorta?
