A virus is not considered to be a living organism because it can not self replicate it's DNA. Thus it is neither. If the fact that it could not self replicate it's DNA was ignored then a virus would be classified as a prokaryote as it would be a single cell organism.

As you can see that none of the above know the meaning of the prokaryote and eukaryote they are comparing it with the living and the non-living!!!
Well
eu-true
karyote-nucleus
meaning -a true nucleus
a true nucleus means that there ia a distinct nuclear membrane.
Eg-ameoba and many others including some of the human cells.
now,
Pro-first or not complete
Karyote-nucleus
meaning-not a complete nucleus
An incomplete nucleus means no clear nuclear memebrane. The nuclear material is scaterred all in the cell.
Eg-Bacteria.
So as per the concept virus may be an prokaryote.
But also think about it on the given concept!!

some consider virus as non living .. but a fact virus comes under living organism. this is because the rna of virus replicates but not the whole cell .it retains its life as a parasitic life in an host cell.its neither prokaryote nor eukaryote

actually speaking..the virus is the line which seperates the living from non living...eukaryotes and prokaryotes for that matter are living cells.. the difference lies in if they possess the nucleus or not,respectively...contained within the nuclear membrane

Definitely not an eukaryote

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/eukaryote

as a virus doesn't even form a cell.

I don't think it even matches the criteria for a prokaryote

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/prokaryote

as it has no ribosomes.

Basically all it has is RNA.

All its other needs it meets by hijacking the living matter in its host.

I like what Richard Dawkins says about viruses and elephants - that viruses only mission is replicate replicate replicate. Elephant DNA has the same mission, but oh by the way, you need to build an elephant first.

Viruses are defined as ultra-microscopic disease causing intracellular particles.Virus can not be an eukaryote as it dose not have protoplasm.virus are at the threshold of the living and non living world.
