Gargle with listerine. It hurts like heck at first, but it numbs the sores after that and It heals them quicker.

i had a problem with canker sores a while back and it spread so bad in my mouth it was painful to drink or eat. I never knew what caused it neither did my dentist. I know if you eat or drink anything with alot of acitity in it, it makes it worse mine went away i gargled with saltwater and the dentist gave me a perscribtion mouth wash that made it feel so good. I think it might have been an alergic reaction to medication that i was on so you might want to check the side effects and ingredients in any medication you may be taking. Oh and use a anti canker toothpaste to prevent and help relieve some of it. Any ingredient that has SLS or sodium Lauryl sulfyte is bad for canker sores. I use reimbrandt anti kanker. I haven't had them since. Some people are more supseptible to getting them over and over. There is a chance its stress but that is kinda rare. Good luck and ask your dentist for a perscription mouth wash i can't remember the name but man after everything i ate or drank i swished cause i was in so much pain and it help if only for a little while.

Go to any Pharmacy and look for Ora gel or Abreva or any of the others for canker sore relief. The pharmacist on duty should be able to recommend what's good. In the meantime avoid very acidic or spicy foods and drink. Gargle with an antiseptic mouthwash or a few drops of peroxide diluted with water. Good Luck!

Abreva- sold at the pharmacy. Cost about $12.- but works fastest. Sorry- this is for cold sores outside the mouth. Canker sores are inside the mouth.
