Depends if you get a good one or a one that sucks. Lowest is like $20. Highest I've seen is like $300. Mine costed around $150. I have an ipod nano 2gb. ^_^

You can get a good one that holds 2 GB of music for about 25$ on ebay or about 50$ in a store.
You also should consider maybe getting one with a built in USB plug (like a storage stick) because you might want to hook up your player to someone elses computer.
Also you should get one that has an exchangeable battery, there are players with built in battery that need a wallplug or computer to recharge, which sux when your like on a busride and that thing is low on energy.
Like I said: A player that meets all these demands would be about 50$ or about 30$ if you are happy with 1 GB of memory (2hrs of music) and would like a built in radio.
I wouldnt recommend getting an Ipod..those are way more complicated than the average player, cost a lot more and break as easily as an average mp3 player.

It all depends. Most people buy iPods...which can be from 69-300 $$$. But there are many better alternatives. There's a lot at Best Buy that range from 30-100 $$$.
