This is definitely a "baited" question...but in spite of what conspiracy theorists might say, it was George Bush who beat Al Gore in 2000.

Now, for all of you people who think Bush stole the election; The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN and the University of Pennsylvania all conducted their own seperate investigations regarding the Florida re-count and they all came up with the same conclusion...It was close, but Bush won.

Do you want to talk about popular vote or the out dated Electoral College vote.
Gore won the popular vote and is the first person in history to lose the presidency by the Electoral college.
The 2000 Election proved that the Electoral College is out dated, and needs to changed by a Constitutional Law. The only reason candidates love the Electoral college is they go to the states with the most votes, they do not appeal to the voter, just the votes to get the electoral vote.

Depends on whom you ask. If you ask Michael Moore, no one defeated him. If you're going by who's been in power for the last seven years, then it might just be George W. Bush.
