Pope John Paul II many world leaders listend to him & while I'm not hugely religions catholic or follow the popes John Paul II did help open countries in many ways not just religiously but politicly & influenced many other world factors during his 30 year reign as Pope. He even tried to right the wrongs & forgive tensions with many of the other religions regarding Catholics as well as other things not even related to religion or Catholics. He was one of the first popes to address the crusades & pray at the wailing wall & work to heal wounds with the Jews as well as worked to help heal relations with muslims as well as jewish & muslim tension. He was I believe the first pope to be offered to pray not just in a sinagoge but in a Mosc (sorry cant spell today). I think health preventing him though & that the new pope actually was the first to enter a islamic site of worship but I don't know....

Adolf Hitler and Franklin Roosevelt. Two men so similar, but so different. Two men who cared so much for their country.

Influential does not mean good. So you would have to include Vladimir Lenin and Stalin. Mao too.
