Actually there are more Republican veterans in Congress than Democrat veterans.
While more New Democrat veterans might have been elected in 2006.
Thats because more than 10 Republican veterans lost reelection to non veteran Democrats.
In the 109th Congress, there were 140 veterans, in the new 110th congress, there are only 130 veterans.
Since no Democrat lost reelection, this means all of those 10 veterans who are no longer in congress are republicans.

Because the majority of repubs sat out the last few wars in college with deferments. And at least one of them ( PREZ ) got lost for 9 months somehow. And the reason they are where they are, is that people like people who serve thier country. Dems or Repubs.

Because the DNC actively recruited veterans to run. What you see are ALL the veterans who were willing to run as Democrats.
