I now can not get on to any messenger site eg yahoo or msn, also some problems with pc now since, I am not very computer literate so any advice would help, thank you in advance xxxx

The OP refers to ANTIVIRUS, not firewall. Norton isn't very good at overwriting existing programs with upgrades. You really need to strip everything out first and re-install. Take a look at the q&a on Symantec support site

The recommendation to get rid of Norton is a good one, as someone else said download AVG free, it gets great reviews in computer mags and I never have any trouble with it. While you are at it if you have no firewall get Zone Alarm (also free) it will check all programs trying to access the net and ask your permission to allow. Yes, it's easy enough. Once you have gone into your personal firewall (on Norton) look for the programs and then click to 'permit'.

You need to re configure the fire wall. Under the security, configure the programs allowed by the firewall, if you have the icon on your desktop just select it.

norton isnt all that good you know i had nothing but problems with it hun and i had the paid for version if i were you trish id remove it click my computer then add or remove then scroll click norton then remove then download avg heres the linkhttp://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 i have had not one problem with this one
