You will have a tough time finding non-maintenance free batteries. Maintenance free is the industry standard for automobile batteries.

Is this for a vintage vehicle? If so, please be aware that as long as the vehicle has a 12 volt system, size and post placement are your only issues.

If you enjoy using a hydrometer and a voltmeter to individually check the cells, spilling caustic battery acid all over yourself and risking an explosion from uncapped cells venting volatile hydrogen gas around you while you work, be my guest. It takes all kinds to make a world.

Of the maintenance free batteries, Duralast, Interstate, ACDelco, and, of course, the venerable DieHard are all good choices.

I would have to agree with Wheeler on this one, but if you can afford it, I recommend Interstate batteries. We use these in car audio competition since the early 80's and have never had problems with the cap less one's. The one's with top cap's on the top of the batteries that cannot be removed. The batteries from Wal-Mart or Sam's (same company) are very economical also to use.

I've actually have bought a few batteries from Walmart over the past couple of years for myself and family members and have had no problems and we get cold winters. They're the Energizer brand, the higher the cold cranking amps the better.

100% satisfied with energizer. Get the one with high CCA.

I don't think they make those any more. Even for vintage rides they just look like it.
