I have had several febrile seizures when I was a kid. I don't remember them since I was 7 when I had my last one. I now have two children who have both had the same type of seizures. When they have a fever they have a seizure. My son has only had one but the one that he had was very bad. He threw up during the seizure and the emt/police/family/especially me were worried that he was going to asphixiate on his own vomit. He had just lost his first tooth the day before and we were able to turn him on his side and let some drain out that way. Scary, but he made it through. My daughter is a year younger than him and she has had at least 8 that I can think of right now. Hers were bad too but never vomited. Afterwards the kids were scared but really had no idea what had happened. They wouldn't remember any of it. They have both rode in an ambulance (my daughter at least twice) and don't even remember it. When they come out of the seizure they look around like they have no idea how they got there, very confused. They usually sleep for hours afterwards and then are fine once they wake up. It is very scary to watch your child have a seizure. They had their seizures when my son was 5 and he is now 8 and my daughter had her first when she was 2 and now her last one at 5 and she is now 7. They haven't had a fever since then either though until now. They both have ran a temperature the past couple of days but they've been seizure free so far! I've of course not slept because I'm worried about being asleep if they have one. I am hoping that they've outgrown them like I did. :)

Yes, I have and it would be difficult to explain. They are not epileptic seizures, they are of a different type. After I am very tired. If I continue to have to many they are considered "break through" as in they break through the medication to control them and my medications need to be adjusted. Such is life. I still have a great sense of humor though...don't I????? As for the first one it was so long ago, my parents were so supportive...but still scary.
