No, it wasn't to show how men shouldn't treat woman. It was a film noir, which contains a femme fatal, but i felt that woman protrayed as only being there for pleasure to men.

Thank you for your contribution Lori, I suggest you take your own advice, and stop getting suspensions. Atleast I do make the most of my schooling.

Several people can watch the same movie and come away with very different opinions about the movie.Your teacher has probably discussed with you why this film was chosen .However if you have concerns about the content bring up your issues during the class discussion.Any form of the arts(movies, literature, art ) is open to subjective opinion, what is controversial for some is mundane to others.

Any film shown in a class should be processed by the teacher. The primary consideration is the purpose and the context of the film viewing; in the end, the students need to relate what they watch with their experiences and subjectively understand them.

No! Especially if you were attempting to make a point by pointing out the noir in the movie..that is was part of the aesthetic, part of th interpretation of the art for the movie portrayed.

What class did you see this film in and what was the message? Are they discussing thru the years the status of women being sex symbols thru the different periods in history or is your teacher a perverted freak who likes young girls(like in your class) and is doing something inappropriate?

I may have a different answer than most. If the movie ends up being a catalyst to get you writing against the portrayal of females as sex symbols, then the teacher has achieved his/her purpose. I encourage my students to react to things around them whether they agree with the catalyst or not.

No. I do not think it is fair to teach girls to put all males into one category. I am not naive, and I know sex is a driving force in most young men's lives. However, I also know that there are men that respect women for their intelligence , personality & many abilities that they possess.

What class? Depends on the lesson you are trying to teach by showing it. Is there a better film you can show that conveys the same message?

no. im into the whole reggaeton thing but i still believe that us women rock and deserve more respect. it is not respectful to show women as eye candy or something like accessories for men. it is incredibly insulting that a HIGH school would consider doing that bcuz they are still yung adn constantly influenced by wat they hear and c in hollywood, the icon of ievery1z fav idols. im not saying it will make a big difference bcuz teens c that stuff all that time on the streets on tv, but it still doesn make it rite.

To whit:

Any woman appearing in a medium which contains visual components is being visually objectified. Of course, if only men were appearing, that would be discrimination.

Women have it so bad.

Depends upon what the point is... If it is to make you aware that men may not be too trustworthy and to watch out what you are being used for, maybe it's ok. Otherwise, of course not...
