Any site like Myspace would not stay in business long if they were careless about privacy and security. They do not knowingly place evil viruses to intercept your every move. My daughter and her friends had/have accounts, but to be honest, you need to have an active adware program installed, and be aware of the ads that pop up while you're there. I block ads (firefox extension "Ad Block") and seek/block adware with something like Spybot, that you keep updated and your browser immunized, and you will only have minor hiccups. The only way to never get a trojan, virus, adware etc. is to never conect to the internet. find some information about trends, indicators, etc. and protect yourself. Understand that Myspace make smoney in the ads placed throughout their site. It's a big, big business that allows you to use their stuff for free. It's like watching cable television, and you have to watch the ads...

MySpace users can (and probably do) put script on their sites that contain an "outgoing" virus for anybody that visits their site. Most of these users are those who pay for their service so that they can manipulate and add their own script on it.

(For those non-tech people, "script" can be made using Microsoft Access, which is similar to Microsoft Excel. Both are used to make databases. However, Access uses programming script to work with software that uses scriptwriting to make the created programs work. I have learned that many Trojan Horse viruses are created using Microsoft Access.)

Myspace.com will give you no viruses, the main part of malware and myspace is the Myspace building sites, (blinkyou.com, myspacepimper etc.)
But myspace.com does use tracking cookies which are virtually harmless and can be removed with most antispy programs.
