I am looking for an island located in the Mediterranean Sea for, essentially, a homestead. Does anyone know of a good island that is, obviously, smallish, and has at least the capability of supporting fertile soil? Your promptness will be appreciated. In your answers, please include:

A name of the island
The government currently in control of the island
A link to information on the island

Thank you

I am looking for an island located in the Mediterranean Sea for, essentially, a homestead. Does anyone know of a good island that is, obviously, smallish, and has at least the capability of supporting fertile soil? Preferably, the island's size could be measured in Acreage. For instance, a 28 square mile island would not be very useful for my purposes. Ideally, it would be more than 10 acres. Your promptness will be appreciated. In your answers, please include:

A name of the island
The government currently in control of the island
A link to information on the island, if possible
Size, if possible

How small does it have to be? Sicily (Italy) is the most fertile island in the Med. Volcanic soil and perfect for citrus and tomato growing.

If you want an isolated paradise, but where only sheep and goats thrive, try Pantelleria (also belonging to Italy but close to Tunisia).

Why would a small island, measured in acres, have a link? And why would it be available if it had usable soil and water for growing things? Look at one or more of the sites with islands for sale http://www.privateislandsonline.com/ I see they even have some under $250,000.

Santorini, in Greece. It has a lot of volcanic soil which makes it good for farming. I guess you'll have to find a link yourself.
