If you have normal blood pressure you might have pregnancy-induced rhinitis. (Pregnant sniffles) It happens at some point in 90% of all pregnancies.

This is a 100% drug free answer.
Try a saline nasal RINSE (not a spray) A full warm water saline rinse goes in one nostril and out the other. It draws out all the gunk and shrinks the tissue (like swimming in the ocean). I've been doing it at work too.

The buffered salt doesn't 'sting' as much as plain salt water. You can use a new method like Nasopure, or the vintage, Netipot. The special bottle and salt is about $20.

You can do this a often as you like with no bad side effects.

You don’t need a prescription for this therapy. So if you live in a state like mine, they’ve pretty much “outlawed” sudafed medicine. Drug-free is really the way to go on a frequent-use basis. (I put in a link for “what” and “how” – there’s also some good info on wiki)

After just getting over one myself all you can take is paracetamol all cold and flue tablet have this in it any way i was told i could take up to 8 tablets a day and Vick's vapodrops (they are meant to be the safest to take while pregnant for clearing the nose and throat). The doctor told me that the cold and flu meds have not yet been cleared to be used while pregnant. Good Luck it's not nice. Hope this helps

Doctor should be on call. Nasal sprays are generally off limits as they raise the heart rates for both you and your fetus and can cause heart arrythmias-particularly if the pregnancy has raised your blood pressure-not to mention the usual cautions about side effects to the fetus.

Plain saline solution is ok. I don't think that you should use afrin. I doubt that putting vicks on the outside of your nose would hurt anything since you are not ingesting it.

my sister used afrin with all three of her pregnancies the Dr told her it was OK. A plugged nose was a side effect of her pregnancy.

I used the Afrin spray, and my OBGYN said it was perfectly fine.

I used the saline spray "oceans" when I was sick and pregnant. It gave me some relief.

Feel better! and take care of yourself!
