Depending upon who installs it .Locally they run from $800-1600 for a 40 gallon installed plus what ever building code updates required.
You should be able to find a new 30 or 40 gall . for about $300-350.00 in your area I am assuming it is natural gas ,propane , electric maybe slightly more, is higher by about 10%. check Home Depo , Lowes or the like for do it yourself.
There are actualy 3 manufacturers in the states , State and Rheem are the largest. and make for GE , Westinghouse , Kinmoore and others brand names.

I don't know where on line to buy one, but get a good quality boiler, such as Weil McLean, Peerless, or Dunham Bush. They run $1400 to $1800, maybe more depending on what accessories you need. A plumbing and heating supply house is the best place to buy from. Those folks know the business, and won't give you bogus advice.

You should be anywhere from $2000 to $4000 installed for a new heating boiler. Replacing a home heating boiler is generally not a DIY thing. If boiler is not installed by certified, factory approved contractor, you have no warrenty.

You are probably talking about one that burns about a gallon of oil per running hour. In New England that goes for about $2500 installed by your oil company.
I don't know about gas powered boilers since our street has no gas main.
