Well I would never be giving a speech about global warming, because I don't believe in it!! I think it's a big lie!! But if I was, I would just start telling everyone how global warming is starting to destroy peoples drain cells, as you can see!!

Nothing makes eveyone forget an awkward moment/embarassing moment like REALLY lame joke.
You should reply - "Well I guess you can say that's my contribution to global cooling"
It is so lame, but will take everyone's mind off the comment. Many will think you even had it staged that they would say that just so you could make that joke.

Laugh and look right at the person and act like he/she is a total stranger.
Then I would say, "Looks like we have a comedian in our midsts". Laugh some more until security removed them.
Then I would say, "That was interesting. How did she/he know?" And laugh again, then resume my lecture.
