Did you know that in the State of Texas waitors and waitresses only recieve 2.13 cents and hr..How cheap is that? They need to step up to the plate, and give their employees better pay...They basically live off their tips..I think it really stinks.....

I think that really stinks too.
In Cali we get the regular minimum wage of $7.50/hr.
Even so, the checks don't amount to much and cheap people still suck!!!!!
We, as servers, still rely on tips to make a living, and some people just don't give a crap.
But I can say that in 20 years in the biz that it all balances out by the end of the week/month.

It's not just Texas it's all over. My son waits tables for 5 hours after school at a pizza place and comes home most nights with $60 or more. That makes his wages about $14 and hour which is almost double what I make an hour. He's making some pretty good wages for a 16 year old I'd say.

If you never been a waitress or Waiter you might say that. When I was younger I had a job as a waitress that I had to pay them to let me work, but I made over $100 a day in tips, and some days as much as $400 a day.

Is there no minimum wage standard in the US? In Canada we have a minimum wage which differs from province to province but I think the average is about $8.00 per hour. I think that is pathetically low but it's much better than what you have said. 2 bucks sucks!! And I don't care what you are making in tips, that is not a guaranteed wage and employers should not be allowed to take advantage of the "well maybe we will be busy tonite and people will be generous". Take that to a bank and try and secure a loan.

The only thing that makes that bad is a cheap tipper. What they should do is to provide health insurance... then living off the tips would be much better.
