well, as they said, you need to perform something for 30 days so that it becomes a habit. so to change one you already have now but want to change, maybe you should stop doing something for 30 days also. and start doing something else.

Firstly you need a darn good reason. If you're changing just because somebody wants you to, or is pressuring you, it just won't work. If you really care about that person and genuinely want to make their life more pleasant by changing whatever bad habit you have, then that's a good reason. Health reasons, for the kids, to give yourself a better life, financial benefits, and "because it's just darn wrong!" are all good reasons to change a bad habit.
Then you need to be aware of what you're doing, why you have continued the habit, what you're getting out of it, and find a wholesome substitute. Then make a date for a week or two in the future when you will give it up by. When that day comes, quit!
I gave up smoking after 14 years, cold turkey, for my kids' health, for my health, because it was too expensive, and because my fiance just couldn't stand the smell and I was making him sick. I picked a date, and just gave up. So it does work!
Good luck!

habits are based upon how you act. The way we act is caused by our belief system. What you belief will effect the way you think, the way you think will effect the way you feel, the way you feel will effect the way you act. The best way to change a habit, or the way you are acting, is to seriously analyze your thoughts, and thought process. The things that you are believing, and the way you are thinking are the root causes of your behavior. Change your thought processes, and make sure what you are believing is healthy and true and it will be easier to change your habits and actions.

Well I would ask a nun. I mean they can't possibly wear the same one day in day out. (What?....Ooh I see)
Ignore that answer. The first step to getting over a problem is to realize you have a problem. So, realize what your bad habits are and take it day-by-day.. (I'd still ask the nuns they've worn habits for years).
