Do you know any of your relatives joined the Union or Confederate Army and fought during Civil War?

I've seen pictures that my grandmother has. She has a picture of her great-uncle who fought for the union army. He did not die in the Civil War, although he was shot in the chin. He's the only one in the family that I know of that fought in the Civil War.

Three of my great great great grandfathers fought and died on the Confederate side. Killed at Antietam i think

yes he was on my mom's side. branham fought in the war, lost an arm and leg, he died alone never married. he lived a some what comfortable life. and blacks did fight in the civil war. try ancestry.com they have stuff in there on black Americans and native Americans. i hope you find what your looking for. god bless.

My great-great grandfather, and his brother, my great-great uncle were both in the Confederate army.
