Sorry dude, but you cant download classic games without xbox live. i would recommend just setting it up (w/ the usb cable and stuff) creating an account, and buying yourself some microsoft points. this will work for you if you have a silver membership.
ps. microsoft points can be bought at best buy or circuit city most of the time

You do know that XBL silver is free, so why don't you just use it? It's not going to cost you a penny.
The only way to get games from the market place is to use XBL. You can't use your computer, then download the game to a CD, then upload it to your 360. If you can do that, what's to prevent you from uploading it to all your friend's 360?

You can download games with the FREE silver account. You don't have to pay for the account, just for the game. You can't play online multiplayer, but you can download from Marketplace.
