When a man says that he met a woman in the summer & they had a lot of fun, or if a woman says that about a man - does it mean that they had sex? Or were they just hanging out as friends?

But mostly times it does mean that but not necessary that could have talk or had fun without sex and still had fun.

if he said that to a girl -- that could mean anything.
if he said that to a guy -- that means they were just hanging out. guys are typically very egotistical and love to play up their "accomplishments" with other guys.
Especially with a girl they could possibly/haven't yet scored with, they would generally play down their "accomplishments" so that they can imagine they still have a chance to score with the girl.

I think just friends. If it was more than that, they probably wouldn't have mentioned it at all. But since they did, it was probably innocent fun, and that's why they feel comfortable sharing it -- nothing to hide.
