I used to love this book in the 70's-80's that was a kids book about cars that would somehow pile up and I think there was an elephant in the story. They might have even been punchbuggies but I can barely remember the details. Sorry, if any of this sounds familiar and you know the name I would really appreciate it. Trying to track this book for years. Thanks

Do you mean "The Elephant Who Liked to Smash Small Cars" by Jean Merrill? I loved this book as a kid. It is the story of an elephant who spends his time smashing cars at a dealership-he even has a song to go along with his smashing. The frustrated dealer then tries to smash the elephant with one of the cars.

The bad news is, the book has been out of print for years, and is going for about $250!

The only one I can think of like that is Go, Dog. Go! but that is with dogs and I don't think there is an elephant in it...it's been forever since I've read it. Hope I helped.
