Failure is not the end of the world,
you learn from failures in life
they really can inspire you because you didn't like the feeling
so you try harder next time
or you see that you are not meant to do blah blah at uni etc
but if the school etc is asking for an excuse say you were sick
but lying is bad & they will see through it so just ask for another chance & prove to them you can do it

I believe there isn't a good excuse for failure. If you work at it hard and long enough, you will succeed.

They didn't try is the only one that is legal.
or do you mean this?
1) the material was spongy
2) I got disturbed too many times
3) They didn't give me enough time
4)She/he wouldn't tell me what they wanted done with this stuff.
5)He/she didn't tell me that.
6) I did it just like she/he did it!
7) That's how she/he told me to do this,....it's not my fault.
