Nope! It can be used as identification for the flight but you dont need a passport to change any continental states in the US. Only to leave this big chunk'o'land or to pass some funky country line (border.)

Are you a US citizen? If you are, you do not need a passport to travel from Georgia to Connecticut. . . . unless you are flying there by way of Mexico or Canada. If you are not, I don't know.
