Yes there is a Gem module. It,s part of the fuse box that,s under the instrument panel on the driverside. You have to drop the fuse box .These trucks had problems with water entering it from a leaking windsheilds.or body seams There was a technical service bullitin from ford ..When you remove there is 2 big electrical plugs a brown and a grey one i believe using a 10mm socket remove them then check for any signs of green corrosion on the pins.If there is you will need a complete fuse box.Fix your water leak before replacing it thou JUST would like to Add that these Auto zone and other aftermarket manuals do not go in detail to repair problem like these..

Never heard of a GEM module. Are you sure they did not say OEM module. Like the switch module. OEM is Original Equipment, Manufacturer

Here is a section at Auto Zone

Get a Haynes Repair Manual at the local Auto Zone or auto parts store in your area. It will troubleshoot and show you how to fix your vehicle. Also on the Auto Zone site has a section for vehicle maintenance.

It is mounted on the back of the fuse block, yes it sounds like the same issue ford had with the the late 90's and early 00's, due to moisture damage from a leaky windshield.
