music is my salvation. It takes me to a place where I can be free to feel and comforts me. Family is my joy. I think of the beautiful little moments with my family. Thinking of friends gives me comfort. I think of making connections and sharing laughter with friends. As for myself, I absolutely agree with you about dignity and self-respect. I feel a sense of pride and self-worth.

I was feeling kind of down and thanks for the question, I'm feeling better already. :D

when i'm feeling extremely down and depressed i imagine all my dreams come true. it's like a movie of my own future life -really cool if u can do that. then if the weather is good, i look up at the baby blue sky and get some kind of hope. the image of the baby blue sky calms me down and i get a feeling that everything is going to be ok. and sometimes, i start writing poems. funny thing is, when i'm in the heat of the passion aka pain my poems sound much better than when i read then awhile later. i also use the same technique u have to just meet the problems head on and move on as fst as possible. last thought: i find creative writing to be the most stress relieving measure.

Looking at everything around me. My accomplishments, how I was able to get up when the going gets really tough. By being thankful for everything that I have. Accepting whatever comes along my way head on, because I believe that no matter what, things will eventually get better. Take care of the things I can and leave everything else to God. Blessings to you all...Smile and be happy, no matter what, it's going to work out okay.

Usually, my loved ones lift my spirits when I feel down, especially my husband. Given, pain is inescapable like you said, but just the thought of how lucky I am to have such wonderful people in my life helps over come any obstacles that tend to get in my way.

A good friend once told me that being a person was doing what we wanted to do, being a good person was doing what needed to be done. I find that doing what needs to be done is gratifying and make me feel good to know that I did the responsible things. I didn't falter under the pressure of self-pity or succumb to a desire to mope. My trust in God helps immeasurably also. Without His guidance through prayer I would be lost.

Ok I think what you really need to do is sit down and watch a good movie.... I love watching Comedys :) I also like listening to smooth calming music and i think one more thing that might help would have be taking a walk that always helps clear my mind.... just realize that everything will be better soon and i hope everything works out for you :)

there are probably three or four things that lift my spirits

1. going for a run on the beach. There is nothing more perfect for me than being able to go to the beach everyday and run on it! It is simply amazing!

2. I love to cook. When I start with a bunch of ingredients and then make it into something spectacular it makes me feel great!

3. spending time with my family and my dog. Hugging my mom and lying next to my dog make me happy because it makes me feel love.

4. Taking a bath. I think that bathing is another one of my favorite things to do, so taking baths is heavenly for me!

When I am down, music instantly lifts me up. I go to myspace music and type in an artist and play the song over my computer. I get up from my desk and do a little dance around my tiny apartment and forget my worries!

Knowing that my low is temporary helps. I also remember a sermon I read about. A minister holds up a $20 and asks who wants it...everyone raises their hand. Then he wads it up in his hands until it is wrinkled and ugly...everyone still wants it. Then he throws the $20 on the ground and grinds it in with his shoe until it is dirty and tattered and torn...everyone still wants it. The moral of the story is that sometimes through circumstances and bad decisions we feel dirty and tattered and torn, But we NEVER lose our value. Good one huh. Also listening to beautiful, peaceful music or singing a happy tune helps. Have a good one. Mmm
