My family and I haven't been getting along great lately and I heard that in some states you are able to leave at the age of seventeen and your parents can't call you in as a runaway. Is this true in Wisconsin and could the cops really do anything about it?

It's too bad that home is so miserable for you, but darling it's a cold world out there, and once you get out into it, you'll wish many days that you were back home with your parents. If you're not being physically or mentally abused, I say stick it out until you're old enough to be out on your own. All families have disagreements... not everyone gets along all the time. When I was your age I learned the hard way that there was no place like home.

until you are of legal age of 18...they can call the cops and say you are a runaway. Did you also know that if you are 18 but still in highs school and you purchase a car with your own money under your own name and everything...you payed FULLY FOR IT like everything....and you try to run away with this car YOU purchased your parents can still call and say it's a reported car stolen and it still is considered "your family's" car until you are out of high school. I found that out the hard way...

well the best way to get away from the house is to find a job or get involve in activities outside of the house you dont want leave just like that even though it seems like you have to. if i was you i know is hard is ask your parents to sit down and have a talk. dont ask them when they are ready to explode, then request a permission to bring up a topic that is bothering both of you guys, active listing , maintain eye contact and then paraphrasing.

Darling...This is your pappy speaking!! You stay put young lady you hear! Sometimes it is hard, sometimes it is frustrating, but in the end it's nice to know that they are there for you. If you left and ruined a relationship there, even though you have a wonderful man in your life, you'll miss your family from time to time.
