I know it will be a dressy event with many fabulous outfits, but I want to know what would be considered "too" dressy for this party. Would a strapless, calves-length dress with a sheer overlay and heels be too much for "casual chic"?

Go for a springy dress and cute heels. That'd be casual but also dressy as it's got heels to add height and dressyness.

You could do something glittery. Beading and glitter are reallly in this season. Try something darker with a little sparkle, a nice slack or straight pair of jeans and a heel. Maybe a cute sweater over the shirt too....

Or you can do a skirt and a cute blouse.. heels again....

I like heels. They'll do wonders for both your legs and outfit.

I'd personally love to see you in a b&w kimino with capri length black leggings. Shoes, ballet flats with a little bit of embellishment on them or a wedge would look nice too.
This is a very chic look that can be casual or dressy it just depends on the accessories. Good luck!

Not at all. Just don't heap on the "bling" jewelry, keep it simple. You will be a knock out!! Think "understated" and you WILL turn heads!

Good luck
