ok my friend at school does this thing with a water bottle,he drinks almost all of it(maybe an inch or less left)and then twists it and squeezes and the lid goes flying off and there is something that looks like smoke that comes out of it.

Liquid is incompressible but air is compressible. Likely, twisting and squeezing a nearly empty plastic water bottle compresses and heats the air and water vapor in the severely confined space. Energy is added to the gas/vapors. The excess pressure blows off the cap and sudden decompression and cooling condenses excess water vapor from the compressed air space, that looks like smoke.

I don't think it's water vapor. When you twist a plastic bottle with air in it, the pressure inside build ups. This will send the cap flying off when the bottle can no longer handle the pressure. The smoke you see, I'm guessing, must be the outcome of friction caused by the cap when it popped off its original place.

That said, it is dangerous what your friend is doing. If you hit somebody else's eye, then you're in for trouble.

As the bottle is twisted, the volume of bottle decreases. Since the pressure and the volume of a gas are inversely proportional. The vapor pressure of water increases inside the bottle. Eventually, the pressre is high enough to blow off the cap.
