My 14 yr old son taught me, it is pretty easy ...
but first, a question for you ...
do you want to use your own image for the background?
If yes, you must first open an account on an image hosting site like www.photobucket.com or www.imageshack.com and upload your images. This will give you an HTML source for the image. You will need an HTML to be able to show your background.
Next you got to one of many sites to customize your MySpace such as: www.Skem9.com, www.coshed.com or www.mygen.com (MyGen has preset backgrounds you can choose from) All of these sites give simple step by step directions for setting up your MySpace.

go to myspace backgrounds..you have to find the background you want and then copy the code, and paste it in the about me section on your profile..make sure you preview and save all the changes. then go to My profile and check out what your page looks like to others.

Try these, you are looking for Free layouts. There should be intructions on how to make your page appear as shown. Go to your friends page you like the most and there should be a link on there and go to the Layouts.

You go onto google or something and then copy the code and paste it in the about me..
