i just noticed that Filipino have crab mentality, we usually judge our own fellow Filipino here in the USA even if we don't know them, instead of giving them credit we accused them of bad things.

BEcause of Jealousy, Filipinos who came to the US absorbed "bad air". What I mean by that is that they just wanna have a better life in the US than other filipinos. When a filipino reach the US, it's like meeting the ultimate goal in life, and if another filipinos meets this "ultimate" goal, they dojn't want it. They want to have the Us for themselves. Also, when they reach the US, they think they are so much better than filipinos here and in the PHilippines becuase they have good stuff here. GOOD STUFF. But actualy, they didn;t have cars or the good stuff in the PHilippines b4 they came here. But when they got here and received all those tings they didn't have in the Phils., they forgot to be thankful to God. They became materialistic. Instead of having time with God, they waste there time in parties and showing off to other filipinos.
But there is a different filipino.....
The different filipinos that came here arew the people who had all the cars, maids, houses and all the good stuff in the HPilippines already b4 they cmae here. THey are the filipinos that are low profiled and has no crab mentality. I myself felt this. A week or two after we came here with my family, my Aunt's family's friends cam over. The minute they first saw me I felt the "air" or in filipino temrs "naramdaman ko ang hangin nila". They looked at like I was a beggar. ALso, my cousin's friends (where were thek ids of those "airy" people), decided to eat upstairs. Well, they finished up. Then I heard my name(by the way, this was happening during the same party). I came in and then they stold me in a cocky tone to bring down their used plates and utensils and they also wanted me to fetch water. I said in my mind, what pathetic people. They don't know who they were dealing with. I grew in a rich life. ANd their friend is only their friend, he's my cousin. I told them "hell no! YOu bring your own "pinagkainan down. I am not your maid." I was yelling angrily. I ran downstairs went to the bathroom and cried. I 'm a guy so it's wierd for me to cry. I jsut cried becuase this was the first time I was treated like ****.
So, FILIPINOS, why?

It is unfortunate that Filipinos and the phrase "crab mentality" is associated with each other.
The change is up to each of us. Instead of being threatened by someone's hard-earned success, it will be much better if we celebrate that person's achievement.
With this positive mindset, malicious gossip will no longer be the type of talk amongst us. With the celebration of someone else's good fortune, it will instill in us desirable values. If the general population will practice goodness, the phrase "crab mentality" may no longer be associated with anyone.
It is all a matter of approach.
----------
To da little president: it is unfortunate that you were treated shoddily by your guests. Best to learn from the experience. You now know how it felt to be looked down on. Please do your best to treat others with respect regardless of ethnicity.

This could be pure hearsay but I heard that the Spaniards promoted this type of behavior/attitude to promote suspicion and jealousy between neighbors and even between regions - thus we have regionalism - so our people will not form a united front against them. But then again, the Spaniard colonization ended 100 yrs ago and that we are merely pointing fingers.
Bottom line is, it is a reality faced by all of us living abroad. Honestly, when was the last time you bump into a "kababayan" and actually smiled and greeted them? Most of us, including myself, will not even acknowledge a fellow pinoy. We tend to look at someone with disdain scanning them from head to toe.

because of jealousy.
filipina nurse has bad reputation here in USA,granted they are good nurses but they are also very nosy, bitchy, and just plain rude.
i'm in a new hospital now,and i just noticed that most nurses of different races are represented in this hospital and when i made a comment about how nice the nurses here, some nurses reply back and told me that it's because there is not a lot of Filipino nurses here.
and i realized she was right about it.
