1999 toyota camary with a 5F-SE 2.2 or 2.0(cant remember) 4 cyl. will run like brand new until whenever it feels like it it will just die. Might run for 5 minutes or 2 hours and just like that it will shut off. Now heres the big problem, after it shuts off sometimes it will start right back up and other times it will crank over but wont start. Now when it wont start, but will crank over, it has 50lbs. fuel pressure, spark at the plugs, and the injectors are pulsing from the computer. have installed new crank sensor, cam sensor, wires,plugs,O2 sensor, fuel filter. The only thing I have noticed is when there is a no start the injector pulse has a wider band on the scope. When it starts the pulse are closer together. Please only serious answers only, this thing has already drove me insane.

Replace the igniter; it's burning out. Should be about $250.00 and is about as big as a tube of chap stick. It goes in what would be your distributor. That's the problem. Easy to tell, the next time it stops and will not start - pull a spark plug wire and see if you get any spark. No spark; no ignite. Or if a very weak spark; in other words it's enough to show but not enough to ark a plug.

Get a Haynes Repair Manual at the local Auto Zone or auto parts store in your area. It will troubleshoot and show you how to fix your vehicle. Also on the Auto Zone site has a section for vehicle maintenance just select your car and see what they have to say.

Go by selected auto zone stores that can do a check on your car. They do it for free. If I did not know any better sounds like good ole gas lock. This is experienced in hot weather or overheating.

Here is the URL, and all you do is select your problem. Bookmark the URL for future reference.

Start with the basic. Check your battery terminal. You might not be getting enough voltage. Check your voltage drop too...
