My son has been accused of child abuse in the state of Illinois. He was suppossd to have made a bruise about the size of a quarter on the leg of his step-daughter. His lawyer has told him he is confident that the judge will declare the case "unfounded". Being the pessimist that I am, I still wonder what if. So my question is this, what kind of punishment could he receive if the judge still thinks abuse happened. My son has never had anything like this happen before. He has no record of any kind. The step-daughter has told DCFS several times there was no abuse. The biological father though keeps pushing the case. Could they make my son leave the home? Could they possibly have him take parenting classes or something like that instead? Thank you for your time and answers.

I wouldn't count on DCFS or the judges to be fair in any case. I was one of those children that was shuffled around by the division of family services, stuck in foster homes, actually tasered by social workers when I was six, beaten, verbally abused, and entirely neglected by the people that were supposed to be there to protect me.

All because of something that never happened, and even though I told the judge nothing ever happened, they claimed I was just emotionally distraught and shipped my parents off to jail. I've only recently been reaquainted with my mother.

So... good luck.

I think the judge in the case will see right through this for what it is.I don't no you but what you said sounds like the real dad is mad because someone else is taking his place as the dad.I really don't think you or your son has anything to worry about. The worse case is a case worker will watch him around his step daughter a couple of times and report what she saw when he is with her that is it.
