You do need to call your doctor and the sooner the better. This happened to me at 32 weeks and I had to go to the hospital to be checked. I was having contractions, but they were not regular and my cervix was not changing, so they said they were Braxton Hicks. The figured that I was dehydrated so I had to drink a bunch of water and have my urine checked to make sure I didn't have an infection. I was there for a couple of hours before being released, but I was glad to know everything was ok.
You might be going through the real thing, but either way you should be checked to make sure there is nothing else going on.
Good luck with everything and please at least call your on call nurse.

As someone who has been in labour three times, I have to say, I feel for ya. Really I do, because I didn't know when I was in labour either until the nurse checked my dilation. So... but pressure in your bottom is a sure sign... If your baby has "dropped" (unless it's in a breeched position)...if this is a second or third baby, labour goes must faster than the first (so they say - my second was kinda not true but my third one sure was). I agree with everybody else though - call someone or go to the labour and delivery at the hospital. If you aren't in labour they will just send you home. It is better to be safe than sorry in this case. Ten minutes apart is kinda still not a real emergency - but two or three minutes apart is active labour. So if that happens, get going!

At 36 weeks, don't play around, call your doctor or go to the ER. It could be nothing, or it could be labor. This is not the time to relax and do nothing. I'm mom to 3 and I had weird pains throughout my pregnancy. I never hesitated to call my doctor or go to the ER. Contractions that are true contractions and 10 minutes apart, ARE PAINFUL!!

Usually the doctor tells you to wait until your contractions are regular and like every 5 or 6 mins with the first child before contacting them. When contractions truly begin, they can't be mistaken for anything else! You could be having braxton hicks contractions, or they could be real, you'll just have yo wait and watch.
Let the fun begin, Good Luck!!

if the contractions are 10 mins apart, then it's probably bad chicken. but call your doctor to make sure. if the contractions start coming every 3 to 5 minutes, then you are in labor.

To be on the safe said call your doctor/local er. See what they say. If you are having regular contractions every 10 minutes and they do not stop or change then you defiantly need to see your doctor. Good Luck I hope all is well.

I have had 6 children and one thing is FOR SURE!
Labor WILL get way announced and extrmely painful. Labor does start out feeling like major gas..however, it will get REALLY baaad. It kid of feels like a hot sharp knife cutting from the inside. Stay home as long as possible because the hospital is cold and uncomfortable.
Don't eat anything else until your sure this is not the real deal.
The pains will become unbearable and the time between pains will decrease, not stay the same or wane.
WooHoo..congrats, good luck and GOD BLESS
Hope you signed up for that epidoral...

Never ever ever feel bad about calling your doctor. That's their JOB. And they need to know either way; if you're in labor OR if you're suffering from a case of food poisoning.
They won't mind you calling, and if nothing else, call your hospitals labor and delivery unit and talk to a nurse, they are ALWAYS there, and someone will gladly talk to you about any questions you have!
Congrats and good luck!

never hurts to call the doctor - probably some braxtons going on - if you still haven't broken your water and the contractions are still that far apart you'll be ok. If you live far from a hospital, you may still want to go - only because you don't want to deliver in a car (like I almost was)
