I'm looking for some new music, and my friend said to get Black Flag, Judas Priest, Grateful Dead, Black Sabbath, and Cream (Eric Clapton's band). What are the best albums by these bands? I listen to my music in albums (and get it that way too, god bless bittorrent), so I want the best ones (or the ones that are the best for new fans).

well if you mean best by most recognizable hits try -
*black sabbath - we sold our souls for rock n roll
*eric clapton - the cream of clapton -- but if your a clapton fan i recommend unplugging your bittorrent and going to the store and buying the crossroads vol. 1 (4 disc) box set it is a worthy purchase.
*never got into the grateful dead
*black flag - damaged (this is not a greatest hits, this is a document in time)
* judas priest is tough - theirs two different kinds of priest ones sounds more 80s and one more early 90s its all about what your into. i liked *painkiller which is near the 90s ----- try *metal works, a best of

very diverse groups. punks, hippies, 80's metal, old metal heads, and classic rock. good luck -- here are four albums you may also enjoy

minor threat - complete discography (kind of black flaggy)
pantera - cowboys from hell (priest like) but very different from vulgar display of power
kyuss - blues for the red sun (sabbath like)
van halen - van halen (1978 essential for all rock) reinvention of the rock guitar

Wow what an interesting question. I used to listen to all these bands at one time or another, so you would think this would be easy. Anyway for Black Sabbath I'd probably go with Heaven and Hell or Mob Rules, of course that leaves out the classic Ozzy stuff, but I can't stand Ozzy. My boyfriend says there is no such thing as a bad Black Sabbath album, some are just better than others. For Judas Priest I'd say Screaming for Vengence or the One with Heading Out to The Highway on it (sorry I can't think of the name). Any Black Flag with Henry Rollins is good (my personal opinion) Grateful Dead almost anything will do, cuz they all sound the same. And sorry I can't help with Cream.

seem at their finished discography. eliminate the albums quick, Ram It Down (even though it has some tremendous ones), Jugulator, Demolition, and probable Nostradamus. everybody's solutions will be a mixture of the perfect 10 albums, and all of those are valid options. properly, 11 counting Unleashed contained in the East, it truly is a good stay album. "Priest...stay!" isn't so fantastic, having been recorded between quick and Ram it Down.
