My sisters brakes went out when she tryed to stop a busy intersection three years ago in Mt. Clemens, MI. She swerved off the road and hit a Payless Shoe sign. Her car caught on fire and another motorist lady pulled her out of the car. Her heel was crushed. She had 3 surgeries and still her foot is not completely healed. The lady that pulled her out was given an award by the Red Cross.

I have had a few accidents and all in the same vehicle so I had to get rid of it. Nothing since then in almost 10 years. Anyway, one I was driving down a 4 lane highway around lunch and it was a clear day but heavy rains the previous few days. Bad drainage at this one spot caused a huge puddle in my lane. As I went through it, I fishtailed and lost control of the vehicle. I slid across all 4 lanes backwards and ran into a fence. No other cars were involved and no one was hurt. I got a ticket for unsafe speed. I was going the speed limit but the puddle was large enough that water was hitting the tops of full size pick-up trucks. So yes, I was going too fast for the puddle but not the rest of the road/day conditions.

Briefly, my husb. and I and some friends(3) in the back were in a horrible car accident in 1974. two cars were racing and husb. who was driving tried to cut to the right to avoid a head on collision and both cars hit us. This was in a small town in NC and my husb. ended up with severe brain damage as he was thrown out of the car over top of me and out the front passenger side door --up the highway and had a emergency trach. at the site on the hy, way. I was laid up 15 months and he ended up with total and permanent brain damage and no one else that seriously hurt.
