Try replacing the color print cartridge, or go to properties -> color and make sure it isn't set to print in grayscale.

If you know your colour cartridge has ink in it, then it may be the carriage its self that the colour ink clicks into, the contact between the ink cartridge and the carriage may be worn, so you end up with no electrical contact, and hence no colour, I have not tried this but if you put the black into the colour side, then print something off and nothing appears then it has to be the carriage contact, if you see the black print out then you have to look at the colour cartridge, which is malfunctioning, may be clogged, contacts on the back need a clean, or even possibly damaged some how, Good luck with it.

Your printer needs to clean its "ink jets", assuming that there is INK in the three colors of casettes or cartridges.

Just go to control panel, then printers, then click on your printer ikon and when you see the menu click on HELP.

Search for "troubleshooting" and choose "deep cleaning". It may take a few minutes but when clear you should then try a sample page which is printed in all colors.

I this does NOT work go back and click on other troubleshooting options, trying out each in turn. If ALL fail and you are sure there is sufficient ink in each of the Cyan, yellow and Magenta cartridges, then there is little you can do.

No computer store will help you without charging you MORE than your printer is worth. If you reach this stage it is better to buyt a new machine.

Buy one in which you can fill your cartridges cheaply yourself or if you don't wish to do this then buy a CANON since there are replacement colors for $6.95 instead of having to pay $2- for HP.

The color cartridge heads may be clogged, try running the haed cleaning program that came with your Canon.

Also, you can check to make sure the printer isn't somehow set to print only in Black\Shades of Black.

in Control Panel, Click on the printers & Fax
Click on your Printer
Then Right Click,
Select Properties
Click on the Genral Tab
Click on Printing Preferences
Make SURE the "Print in Grayscale is NOT Checked

Replace your color ink cartridge in your printer. It may be too old, or it's probably out of ink.
